Computer-Controlled Cutting

Vinyl Cutting

To begin the week, one of the individual assignments was to create a vinyl cut sticker. I had the idea that I wanted to cut out a cool laptop sticker and edit it to show my name with a cool peter pan at the background . I found one.

the one i found ment i was confortable with changing feature and manuplating the same.

the manuplating of the object that i was to decided to cut ment plaing with every feature of coredraw and sometime ment cutting thing that are not visible

once the designing part was done and getting hug of the software as well as the vinyl it was time to cut and thus i had to prepar the vinyl machine and the material to be used as well one more time

the set up was done and the final design i decided to go with was as shown. i used the white tape to traffer the cut design at the back of my laptob which was a very interesting process considering i had very small details.

i realized its better to work with bigger objects since they dont consume time as well as they are very easy to work with

Parametric Design

The idea i had in mind was to design a lamb shade with which is parametric in nature.

To start with, i had to visualize how the shade will look like and the following is sketch. The material i decided to use was ply wood 3mm.

The 2D design software i decided to use for the design was CorelDraw

i went right ahead and here i tried two 2D designs softwares Coreldraw and illustrator on which the were both flowing nicely

this i started by designing each piece

all the pieces together

parametric test

After the the design process it was the time to test the laser cutter

this involved setting the material to used in the lazer cutter

also involving setting the desings how the will be cutter

After the whole setting and setting the lazer cuter it was time to set up and cut the final pieces of the lamb shade and the final pieces appeared as follows

after careful cutting of pieces it was time to assemble the parts to the shade designed which appeared as follows
